Description

Crape Myrtle is a native rose of East Asia, has many different names such as multi-flowered rose, Japanese vine, ... and is often confused with the horoscope flower. This flower appears a lot in China, and in Vietnam, it is grown a lot in Da Lat and Hanoi.

Crape Myrtle is a shrub with a height of 1-2m, dark brown bark, many branches, thorny branches. Leaves are about 1.5 - 3cm long, each leaf has about 5 - 9 leaflets obtuse pyramidal, serrated. The leaflets are hairy and fully attached to the petiole.

Crape Myrtle has a mild fragrance. Flowers grow at the ends of branches. The flower bud is spherical, spreading to 6 spiral-shaped petals. Petals thin, long wrinkled. The flower has a large number of stamens.

When the flower fades, it will have a spherical fruit, containing many seeds. Crape Myrtle has a fairly fast growth rate, suitable for cool climates. Flowers bloom from February to May, and fruits from September to the end of the year.
